The Joint Stock Company "Olaines Kudra" is one of the largest peat extraction, processing and export enterprise in Latvia. It was founded in 1940.
Peat bog is located in a 20-kilometer distance from the Latvian capital, Riga, at the Cenas-Tirelis peat bog and occupies 5,000 hectares of land. The peat deposits form a five-meter layer there.
The peatery currently exploits 700 hectares of the utilizable 1,500 hectares and employs 150 workers. The present output is over 300,000 cubic meters of peat per year.
During more than 60-year operation of the enterprise full mechanization of the work process has been achieved.
In March 1997 in the course of privatisation of "Olaines Kudra" the controlling interest has been bought by the company "MONO Ltd", one of the biggest holding company in Latvia which has a sufficient influence on Latvia's national economy.
"Olaines Kudra" exports its products to more than 15 countries in Eastern and Central Europe and Middle East - Poland, Germany, Holland, Italy, France, Croatia, Austria, Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia.

"Olaines Kudra" manufactures heating peat and peat for agricultural (horticultural) needs.
Supplies are available by trucks and containers, by vessels and railway.
